"Those are the keepers. They are the flowers who bring the bees and goodness into your life and help you to flourish. The flowers you pick and weave into your daisy chain and wear close to your heart." ~ Make daisy chains, North East Victoria Dream. ![]() Making daisy chains...I remember, as many others will, making these as a kid. As an adult, the phrase making daisy chains, has come to take on a different meaning for me. I use the phrase to refer to the need to collect and nurture, to hold dear, the connections, the friends, family, muses, supporters who bring goodness into your life and help you to flourish. This meaning and thought came up when I was working through a particularly stressful incident...Yes, okay...let's call it a life lesson.... involving contracts, clauses, lawyers and ex-employers...( A story for another, braver time perhaps?). This incident triggered severe anxiety and panic attacks. During a therapy session to help me to cope with the situation, I was asked to think of a time when I was completely relaxed, calm and happy. The memory that I recalled was sitting in the sun by the beach in Apollo bay and rediscovering my childhood joy of making daisy chains. And it got me thinking about the people who were currently around me supporting me through this time and how these are the kind of energies to draw in close around you. So my next piece... still a work in progress...let's call it My charms (my precious...I remember)...focuses on gathering up precious memories of the flowers, the people who bring the bees, the goodness into my life. Yes...there are daisies! ... ...and beeswax...and thread, fragments of memories of happy times with the people who are my charms. :) Comments are closed.
