the rose's beauty has been compared to thee,
the sun's radiance glows within me,
oh what a wonderful pair we'd make,
if only those two things we could be.

your rose thorns might then me prick,
my sun fire might fry thee to a stick,
oh what a spiteful pair we'd make,
so forget the whole thing and forget me quick.

strings, silent and untouched,
you are nothing but a curious ornament,
propped up in the corner of my room.
do you wait for me?
suspended in that silence between,
the certainty of now and the promise of...
...maybe tomorrow?...
...does your heart switch into reverse?
shifting amid the push and pull of anticipation,
and this pause, this temporary impotence.
the hush of your stillness closes in on my heartstrings,
and draws them tight around my longing,
until I cannot breathe, for the sight of you.
silent,
i am the curious ornament,
propped up by lame hands against my own aching, desire.
i wait,
suspended by my own inadequacy,
for you to tenderly coax me back into song.

Pain demands to be heard. It screams loudest when you have forgotten to listen to the measure between those two seemingly discordant notes: your body and soul.
Memory of pain whispers pianissimo between the two, essentially encouraging your whole self into tempo rubato. Remember your experiences of pain. Listen to both body and soul, so that what you express is your own, unique and honest phrasing.

She grows best at temperatures around 25 degrees:
Any cooler and its too hard for her to set down roots;
Any warmer and she tends to wilt;
Temperate warmth is usually enough to make her flourish.
